FI2W reporter Valeria Fernández was interviewed this morning on public radio’s The Takeaway to talk about an announced immigration raid by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

“There’s no federal law that gives him the authority to do these immigration sweeps, but he says that he can do it,” Valeria said during her conversation with The Takeaway’s Celeste Headlee and John Hockenberry, in which she explained the sheriff’s controversial tactics to detain undocumented immigrants in the Phoenix area.

      Sheriff W. C. Fields should not be allowed to break the law. Put him in a tent and give him a couple tequilas.

      Where does the Sheriff get his power? I don’t know what the Federal Government is going to do about the Good Sheriff. Sheriffs are Constitutional officers, not U. S. Constitution but State Constitution. Alaska is the only state that doesn’t have the Constitutional officer of Sheriff.

      The states created the Constitution which empowers the Federal government. Also, the Tenth Amendment reserves to the states respectively, or to the people, any powers the Constitution did not delegate to the United States, nor prohibit the states from exercising.

      The office of sheriff is created by the Constitution of the Great State of Arizona. The sheriff is bound by the oath to uphold the Constitution of the state and answerable only to the people of the state NOT the Federal Government. The office of sheriff IS a part of the checks and balances of the United States of America. It is there to prevent the Federal Government from doing what it is trying to do today.

      So what is the Federal Government going to do? Amend the Arizona State Constitution? I think not.

      The illegal alien invaders are screwed, so that should quit winning and OBEY THE LAW!

      I want to let you all know that I have been talking to some lawyers and it turns out that the Sheriff does in fact have the authority to enforce Federal Immigration law without 287(g). 8 USC 1356(g)(10) states that state and local law enforcement can arrest illegal immigrants WITHOUT any specific agreement with the Federal Gov, ie 287g.

      I emailed it to the Sheriff this morning, So get ready to see Mass Deportations of all the illegal aliens. Here is the link to the law:
